Changes to the Collection of NSW Emergency Services Levy (ESL)

NM Insurance Pty Ltd collects New South Wales Emergency Services Levy on property-related insurance policies to provide funding for the New South Wales Fire and Emergency Services (ESL). In December 2015, the New South Wales Government announced that effective 1 July 2017, the collection of ESL under property-insurance policies will be abolished.  In its place, a levy would be collected through council property rates in the form of the Emergency Services Property Levy from 1 July 2017.

What the Changes mean for Our Customers

Effective 1 July 2017, our customers will no longer be charged ESL as part of their insurance premium.  In the period to 1 July 2017, NM Insurance Pty Ltd will continue to collect ESL from policyholders in order to meet its obligations to fund the New South Wales Fire and Emergency Services. NM Insurance Pty Ltd is committed to ensure that no NSW ESL is charged on new insurance policies or policy renewals after 30 June 2017.
