Staged by Middle Harbour Yacht Club (MHYC), the Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship (NMI SSORC) is set to take place on 28-29 November 2026. Celebrating its 49th anniversary, the popular regatta will be the first major offshore hit-out of the Sydney regatta season. The championship will begin with a passage race on Saturday, sailed either to Lion Island in a northerly breeze or Cape Baily in a southerly. Two offshore windward-leeward races are scheduled for Sunday.
The regatta forms an important part of Nautilus Marine Insurance’s partnership with MHYC, which also includes support for the Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Harbour Regatta, to be held on 6-7 March 2027. “Middle Harbour Yacht Club is proud of its longstanding partnership with Nautilus Marine Insurance and their continued commitment to supporting sailing at every level,” says Andrew Forbes, MHYC CEO. “Their support helps our club deliver two of Sydney’s premier sailing events, providing exceptional racing opportunities for competitors and strengthening the sport across our sailing community.” Entries are now open for the NMI SSORC.
