Edencraft General Manager, Josie Eastman, talks us through the new Edencraft 255 Formula and reveals how it’s already making waves in the offshore trailer boat market.

Share some company history about Edencraft.

Edencraft International is a family run business based in Moolap, Victoria. My father, Grant Maher, took ownership of the business back in 2016 and inherited the rich history of the legendary 233 Formula hull dating back to the 1960s. We custom-build four unique boat models to cater for the different needs of offshore fishermen.

Edencraft has a cult following amongst fishos. What factors do you attribute this brand loyalty to?

Edencraft’s cult following among fishing enthusiasts is largely due to the exceptional durability and performance of the boats, particularly in rough seas, coupled with the ability to customise features to suit individual boating needs. This is further reinforced by the community of users who share a deep appreciation for the quality and heritage of Edencraft boats. This creates a sense of loyalty among users, who often share their passion and experiences with others, further enhancing the brand’s appeal.

There are lots of offshore fishing vessels on the market. What makes Edencraft in general, and the 255 Formula in particular, unique?

Edencraft’s vessels are known for their exceptional handling and stability in rough waters, features that are meticulously developed through a rigorous R&D process and derived from the brand’s heritage of producing boats that are both durable and reliable. The 255 Formula, in particular, brings a blend of these traditional strengths with modern innovations such as advanced composite materials and a design that maximises comfort and functionality without compromising on the boat’s performance, and it is 26ft, giving you that big boat feel whilst still being manageable and trailerable to go anywhere.

Share the top five key features of the 255 Formula.

  1. Innovative rear transom seat and increased storage: The rear transom seat in the 255 Formula cleverly doubles as an esky with powered actuation, maximising utility and space efficiency. This design is particularly beneficial for extended trips, allowing more storage and convenient access to chilled items, enhancing the comfort and functionality of the boat.
  2. Optimised dashboard with triple 19-inch screens: The 255 Formula features a dashboard designed to house three 19-inch screens, optimising the display of navigation and system monitoring information. This setup enhances the captain’s ability to manage the vessel efficiently, providing clear and simultaneous visual feedback on crucial metrics, which significantly boosts the boat’s usability and safety.
  3. Advanced hardtop design: The new hardtop design on the 255 Formula combines aesthetic appeal with practical functionality, offering robust protection and additional space for mounting essential gear. This feature greatly enhances comfort by shielding passengers from the elements and complements the boat’s sleek design while improving its aerodynamic properties.
  4. Luxurious cabin and upgraded amenities: The 255 Formula’s cabin upgrades focus on luxury and comfort, featuring premium upholstery and a fully equipped toilet, making it ideal for longer journeys and overnight stays. This enhanced cabin design not only increases the boat’s appeal for leisure activities but also ensures that every outing is enjoyable and comfortable, even in varied sea conditions.
  5. Structural enhancements meeting AMSA Survey Standards: Meeting AMSA Survey Standards, the 255 Formula uses advanced composite materials to achieve superior structural integrity and safety. This compliance ensures that owners can trust in the vessel’s durability and robustness, which is critical for handling diverse and challenging conditions, ensuring peace of mind during any adventure.
