We sit down with d’Albora Managing Director Julien Pouteau to find out more about d’Albora Akuna Bay, a full-service marina nestled in the heart of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
For readers who aren’t familiar with d’Albora Akuna Bay, can you give us an overview of the marina offering?
Just an hour’s drive from Sydney CBD and minutes from Mona Vale, d’Albora Akuna Bay is a full-service marina offering marina berths, dry stacker storage, full-service boatyard facilities and new and used boat sales. There’s also impressive waterfront dining with Shed Café and San Martin, a premium wedding and social events venue for 200+ customers. Located in idyllic surrounds of the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, d’Albora Akuna Bay has direct access to four of the fantastic different waterways of Cowan Creek, Hawkesbury River, Pittwater, and Brisbane Waters, making it the ideal location to explore all year round.
How does d’Albora Akuna Bay Marina fit within the d’Albora portfolio?
It’s a very destination-focussed marina that sees a mix of full-time vessels and casual longer-term bookings. People tend to come and visit and end up staying longer than planned due to the facilities, services, and waterway offering and locations.
Akuna Bay is in an incredible location, set within the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and offering easy access to some spectacular cruising grounds. Why is this area so appealing to boaters?
It’s a very relaxing tranquil environment which offers aesthetically beautiful cruising and anchorage options. There’s fantastic fishing and it’s also a perfect location for water skiing as well. For those wanting to explore nature, the bushwalking and bird watching options are incredible.
Talk to us about the variety of vessels you cater for at d’Albora Akuna Bay.
The marina is very capable as it offers a wide selection of berthing solutions for vessels up to 40m. Our wet berthing is 204 berths and there’s 167 dry storage racks. We have annual berthing for those who want to sign on for a 12+ month membership, these annual members have full time access to all d’Albora Akuna Bay’s facilities in an idyllic location. We also have casual berthing options including daily rates, monthly rates, and longer-term options. Akuna Bay is a fantastic location for visiting vessels and boaters who want to take the opportunity to enjoy the vast waterways on offer at different times of the year. We have also just expanded two new marina arms to specifically cater to vessels in the 7m – 11m range (23ft – 36ft) providing new floating marina berths, giving vessels instant access to power and water and making it easy for boaters to easily slip in and out of their own berth when it suits them.
Can you give us a snapshot of the range of maintenance services and marine trades you have on site at d’Albora Akuna Bay?
The boatyard at d’Albora Akuna Bay is operated by long-term tenant Francis Marine and also offers slipway services. This full-service boatyard maintenance facility
includes a 30 tonne travelift and hardstand area, and is perfectly suited for annual vessel maintenance, servicing, complete refits, and shipwright services. Surveyor, mechanical, electrical and detailer services are also all available at Akuna Bay.
What refuelling facilities do you have on-site?
Our new 24/7 fuelling facilities offer premium diesel and premium unleaded petrol (PULP) with high flow pumps available. Our members receive marked down fuel pricing (20c off the bowser price per litre). Live fuel updates are also available via the d’Albora App.
Tell us more about the hospitality and event venues you have at d’Albora Akuna Bay.
Shed Café offers a wide range of breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea services right on the water’s edge and they have a liquor licence. Our premium event venue, San Martin is a full-service waterfront wedding and function centre facility suited for over 200 customers. San Martin was only built a few years ago, so it is very new inside and offers incredible water views. Both venues offer easy access from cars, buses, and vessels.
