Maritimo Managing Director Tom Barry-Cotter, reflects on the brand’s 20th anniversary year and looks ahead to the future.

Maritimo celebrated its 20th anniversary throughout 2023. Why did you want to mark this milestone with a year of activity?

Celebrating Maritimo’s 20th anniversary in 2023 is a significant milestone for our company as we reflect on two decades of crafting motor yachts for the global market. The journey of crafting motor yachts for the past 20 years has been an incredible one. There is a pride felt by everyone at Maritimo in our collective achievements and our dedication that have defined the brand over the past two decades.

There have been many highlights over the past two decades. Numerous awards and accolades, unforgettable experiences, and friendships formed with both our wonderful owners and incredible staff. This anniversary represents a true coming of age for the Maritimo brand, symbolising not only our tenure, but also our growth, resilience, and continued success in the global market. We eagerly look ahead to the next 20 years with excitement, anticipating the continued evolution of Maritimo and our enduring presence in the global market.

Maritimo also held the global launches of your largest vessels to date, the M75 and S75, in 2023. Talk to us about the 75s and the significance of unveiling two new flagships in your 20th anniversary year?

Maritimo introduced its latest flagship vessels in the form of the M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht and S75 Sedan Motor Yacht, as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations. The 75s were developed over three years, but they infuse 20 years of boat building evolution and design mastery into what is in the water today. They are now the largest and most advanced motor yachts Maritimo has ever crafted.

On a personal level, what did the 20th anniversary mean to you, as you lead the company into the future and build on the amazing legacy started by your dad, Maritimo founder Bill Barry-Cotter?

I have grown up with the brand, watching it evolve from many different viewpoints within the company, so it brings myself and the others I’ve worked with a great sense of pride in what the company has accomplished over that span. I am very conscious of the responsibility in taking this incredible company into the next decade and beyond. I have an incredible team of people around me from top to bottom, who are as passionate as I am about seeing Maritimo continue its success, and for that I am very thankful.

Reflecting on Maritimo’s history, what are the essential brand DNA elements that have remained consistent throughout the 20 years?

Our legacy traces back to a pivotal moment 20 years ago when we introduced groundbreaking innovation in the design of enclosed flybridge cruising motor yachts. Along with this innovative new class of motor yacht, we set a new philosophy and standard for both dependability and quality of the vessels we craft. The enduring build philosophy established two decades ago remains the steadfast foundation of every motor yacht we meticulously craft today.

Lastly, what are you looking forward to focusing on over the next year?

2024 is truly shaping up to be a massive year. We have many exciting unveilings, announcements, and events on the calendar, but I won’t spoil any surprises just yet!
