Navico is once again leading the way in marine innovation, this time by partnering with the forthcoming E1 Series, the world’s first electric powerboating championship. Scheduled to kick off in early 2023, the E1 series will see up to 12 teams race on tight, technical courses across 10 global race locations and reach speeds of up to 50 knots (93km/h). Navico is the marine electronics company behind brands such as Lowrance, Simrad, B&G and C-MAP. Simrad will be the Official Marine Electronics Partner of the E1 Series, while C-MAP becomes the Official Cartography Partner. The E1 Series recently unveiled the first full-size model of the RaceBird, an electric powerboat with innovative hydrofoil technology, which is now under development for use in the series. Both Simrad and C-MAP will support the development of onboard systems for RaceBird boats. “Navico is incredibly excited for this E1 Series partnership featuring Simrad and C-MAP,” says Navico CEO Knut Frostad. “The electrification journey is quickly taking hold in the boating industry and we believe the E1 Series is a perfect platform to raise the bar around innovation and encourage action in marine conservation and sustainability.”
