Luxury long-range motor yacht manufacturer, Maritimo, is celebrating its 20th anniversary by paying tribute to the brand’s founder, Australian boat-building legend Bill Barry-Cotter.
Born in Adelong, New South Wales, after the war, Bill was destined to follow in his father’s footsteps as a builder until he discovered a passion for sailing as a teenager that led him to a boat-building apprenticeship at 16.
By the age of 19, Bill had constructed his first boat, taking over Mariner Cruisers when his employer retired. Mariner flourished under his leadership, becoming Australia’s largest boat manufacturer by 1978. After selling his interest in Mariner, Bill founded prestigious boat brand Riviera. After accepting an offer for a buyout of his ownership in Riviera, Bill didn’t remain idle long, establishing Maritimo at Hope Island in 2003.
Over the last two decades, Bill and the Maritimo team have continued to lead the way in luxury long-range motor yachts with their innovative designs. With Bill’s son Tom Barry-Cotter now at the helm of Maritimo, the brand is celebrating their 20th anniversary while steering towards new horizons as they launch their grandest vessels yet: the M75 Flybridge Motor Yacht and S75 Sedan Motor Yacht, two magnificent vessels that are the culmination of three years of design and development.
