Auckland’s Westhaven Marina, located in the centre of the ‘City of Sails’, has been awarded the coveted 4 Gold Anchor accreditation, by the Marina Industries Association (MIA).

“Westhaven Marina is the largest recreational boating facility in the Southern Hemisphere and the first Gold Anchor marina in New Zealand,” says MIA CEO Suzanne Davies. “It’s an amazing achievement and a credit to the Westhaven team in creating such an incredibly comprehensive marine facility.” The Gold Anchor program is to marinas what the Michelin Guide is to restaurants. It is a simple and credible way of communicating to potential customers the marina’s commitment to quality facilities and services.

This global accreditation requires a rigorous assessment of a marina’s services, procedures and facilities. An independent audit of 86 criteria across all areas of the business is carried out, as well as a customer survey. The accreditation aims to provide marinas with a set of benchmarks to maintain for continued improvement, as well as assuring consumers that the marinas offer a high level of services and facilities.

The highest level possible is the 5 Gold Anchor Platinum accreditation. “Westhaven Marina is honoured to be the first Gold Anchor marina in New Zealand,” says Westhaven Marina Manager Karenza Harris. “Our team is focussed on providing customers with the highest level of service and facilities and we are pleased that our efforts have been recognised with this award.” Westhaven Marina is the hub of recreational boating in Auckland, and is home to more than 1,800 recreational boats, four yacht clubs and a variety of marine businesses and hospitality establishments.
