We spend an afternoon with the Maritimo team taking a closer look at the Maritimo M600 Offshore Black Edition.

The sun is shining on the Gold Coast and Nautilus Marine Magazine has arrived at Maritimo’s pre-delivery docks at Hope Island. We’re here to see the new Maritimo M600 Offshore Black Edition, and Maritimo Operations Manager Phil Candler and Head Skipper Isaac Marshall will be taking us out for the afternoon on this magnificent flybridge motor yacht. Maritimo’s new Black Edition models encompass a series of updates to some of Maritimo’s most popular luxury flybridge cruisers, with design enhancements and new features that are both practical and elegant.

“The Maritimo M600 Offshore Black Edition is the result of gathering feedback from owners, dealers, design and manufacturing over a couple of years,” says Candler. “Feedback about how our owners use their boats, and their creative ideas about features they might like to have on their boat. We reviewed a few thousand line items with our design team and worked with a process engineer to come up with the key features that we wanted to improve within the Black Edition models.”

As we make our way along the Coomera River and then cruise down the coast, Candler talks us through some of the M600 Offshore Black Edition features. It’s clear that all the Black Edition updates, from configuration changes to the smallest details, have not only added new levels of refinement and practicality to the M600, but have also been designed with the needs and desires of owners at the forefront.

Reimagined deck spaces

Maritimo motor yachts are known for their large open cockpits which offer fantastic outdoor living and entertaining spaces, and the new Black Edition has taken these deck spaces to the next level. The redesigned transom island which separates the main cockpit from the enclosed transom, is one of the key improvements.

“We’ve got a new larger barbecue, with a built-in fridge, new stainless-steel splashback for better cleaning and a larger integrated sink,” says Candler. “The access door entrance into the lazarette is another new feature. Previously, you accessed the lazarette via a hatch in the floor, so the new access door is much more convenient and offers easier access. We also moved the whole transom island further aft, with the whole objective to make the upper cockpit a larger area for entertaining.”

The upper cockpit lounge has also been upgraded, and the dual integrated transom side gates which separate the upper cockpit from the transom are a stylish safety feature. “Overall, the space offers better entertaining and accessibility, with more style and comfort,” says Candler.

Enhanced galley

The aft galley location is another Maritimo signature, and the enhanced M600 Offshore Black Edition galley is truly fit for a chef, with stylish finishes, more bench space, a generous pantry, latest appliances and even an optional wine fridge.

“Inside the galley we’ve created the waterfall effect on the island and increased the counter space for food preparation,” says Candler. “We had a lot of feedback from our owners about how they use the galley. How do we get more bench space in was a big thing that kept coming up.” As you’d expect, the galley also offers a seamless connection to both the light-filled saloon area and the upper cockpit.

Forward deck

The forward deck on the M600 Offshore Black Edition offers another fantastic space for relaxing and entertaining, with a forward-facing bow lounge and a larger optional sun pad. “We changed the sun pad configuration and the shape and moved it forward,” says Candler. “There used to be just one seat position but now you can adjust it to any angle you want, and it makes for a great day bed. The bow lounge is another great seating space. You can have a few people enjoying each space at the same time, so it works really well.”

Helm and Flybridge Sky Lounge

“One of the biggest improvements is the floating dash,” says Lead Skipper Isaac Marshall of the helm station which takes design cues from Maritimo’s flagship M75. “Not only does the floating dash give you more visibility, but bringing the engine screens up slightly also makes it much easier on the eyes when you’re navigating. Having the full function electric trim as standard is a great help too. I’m also a big fan of the window; when you’re cruising offshore on a calm day you can leave it open and it brings the outside inside.”

Marshall is also a fan of the enhanced Sky Lounge, which offers two internal flybridge lounging areas and a sizeable flybridge deck with a full hardtop. “In general, it’s now a much more social space up here,” he says. “The large flybridge deck tends to draw people up here to socialise and enjoy the views and the space”
